Opportunity & Role

The Senior Accountant provides support to Canopy Service Partners and its Operating Entities. This position will lead and coordinate a variety of monthly close, acquisition onboarding and audit focused responsibilities and projects that support the ongoing growth and integration of Canopy and its Operating Entities.

The Senior Accountant will be expected to operate independently and interact with employees at all levels of the Company and our Operating Entities on a daily basis. This position will be looked upon as a reliable source of accounting information for Canopy Service Partners, as well as the accountants and office managers at our operating entities.

Primary Responsibilities

Monthly Close

  • Works with team on the robust monthly close processes, including consolidation for multiple Operating Entities.
  • Works with staff at Operating Entities to ensure financial reporting is timely, accurate, and audit ready.
  • Reconciles and analyzes general ledger accounts and bank statements.
  • Posts monthly journal entries and keeps updated reconciliations for each balance sheet account through the close management software.
  • Identifies ways to continuously improve the monthly accounting close process through technology and process enhancements.
  • Maintains accounting files and records.

Acquisitions

  • Acts as a key resource for newly acquired (as well as the existing) Operating Entities.
  • Travels to newly acquired Operating Entities during the first few days of the acquisition to assist with integration and onboarding.
  • Assists with the integration of acquisitions into Canopy Service Partners’ accounting and financial systems.
  • Assists Controller with research and implementation of technical accounting guidance and related processes for complex transactions, including business combinations (ASC 805), revenue recognition (ASC 606), and lease, inventory and project accounting, to ensure compliance with GAAP.

Annual Audit

  • Assists the Controller with the annual audit, including but not limited to preparation and distribution of documentation.
  • Coordinates with external auditors to ensure successful engagement and on-time delivery of audited financial statements.
  • Assists the Operating Entities with gathering the requested support needed for the auditors.

Miscellaneous

  • Supports the Accounting team and/or other departments on an as-needed basis.
  • Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.
  • Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· Qualified candidates MUST have a minimum of 5 years of related experience

· Prior experience working in a high-volume environment required.
